Art Subject Lead
I was born in London, grew up in Devon and then came to Bristol to go to University. After graduating in Sociology, I moved to London where I undertook my Teacher Training in Primary and Early Years at the Institute of Education (UCL). I stayed in London where I taught in East London as a Reception teacher for a few years before moving back to Bristol (I knew I would always move back – my true home). I then taught in an inner city Maintained Nursery School for a long time, during which I had my little one. Now here I am, Redfield Edge! I am really excited to be with Reception again. My heart lies in the Early Years.
I love going on walks and bikes rides, visiting my family and friends, cooking and bakeries! Nothing beats a freshly baked loaf of bread with butter does it?
I believe that joy and purpose should punctuate children’s learning experiences. They form the foundations of each child’s love and zest for learning. I want children in my class to be independent, resilient learners, who seek challenges and are not afraid of making mistakes – through failure, we learn. I want the children I teach to feel nurtured, loved, safe, secure and know that they will always be listened to. Children need to be heard, to have their side of the story valued. In this environment, children will be motivated to learn and display elevated levels of engagement.
